Argyll & Sutherland, Ltd. was established in 1991, initially providing property investment and home renovation and remodeling services. Working closely with inspectors and accompanying them throughout the homes was an essential part of our business. We learned the importance of working with an inspector with a broad scope of knowledge and experience, of providing a clear understanding of inspection results, without causing unnecessary concern. We decided to offer inspection services based on Courtesy, Reliability, and Expertise. Inspections are now our only service.
Courtesy involves our allowing additional time for clients questions and discussing their concerns, and for providing additional detail and visual on-site explanations when needed. Courtesy also means that we respect the interests of all the parties involved in the transaction, including the Realtors and other professionals. We are very aware of how disruptive the showings, negotiations, and of course inspections, are to the homeowner. Because of this, we make every attempt to minimize our disruption of the homeowners normal activities and their possessions, and try always to be aware that their pride is often easily affected. As much as possible, we try to act as guests in their home.
Reliability starts with our being on time and prepared for the inspection. We continue by performing a complete and accurate inspection, ensuring compliance with all applicable Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics, and delivering a clear and detailed written report within the time specified (normally the day following the inspection). Reliability means responding quickly to any inquiries that follow the inspection and the review of the report. In addition to maintaining and adhering to an accurate schedule, we maintain timely follow-up, scheduling, and reporting for re-inspections. The results of re-inspections are reported in a detailed written addendum to the original inspection report.
Expertise includes the education, experience, and skills needed to provide a comprehensive inspection and report. Our inspections exceed the Standards of Practice of the American Society of Home Inspectors, and those established by the State of Nevada. Pre-certification education, and continuing education, both exceed the State of Nevada requirements for all three types of inspector certificates. We perform numerous types of residential and commercial building inspections, but specialize in residential inspections. Experience includes ten years as an independent inspector, an additional five years performing repairs, renovation, remodeling, and inspections of residential property, and twenty years with a major distribution corporation, which included the design, maintenance, and construction of warehouses and office facilities. Our written inspection reports have been reviewed and approved by ASHI and the State of Nevada, and we are approved independent property and construction loan inspectors.

We follow and exceed the Standards of Practice and adhere to the Code of ethics established by the State of Nevada, the American Society of Home Inspectors, and the Nevada Association of Certified Real Estate Inspectors.
